Sat. October 14, 2pm at Calvary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Archie of Edmonton Alberta, passed away on Oct 7th after a brief battle with cancer.
Archie Durward Marzolf is described as a kind and most gentle man, who was active in his church and the community. He was born son of Amye and Michael in Central Butte Saskatchewan. At 17 years of age Archie began teaching and became appointed principal at the early age of 20.
The majority of Archie’s 28 teaching years were with the Edmonton Public School System. He was on the board of many organizations including: Calvary Lutheran Church, the Good Samaritan Society, Teachers Credit Union, Camrose Lutheran College, etc.
After retiring from teaching, Archie joined the Alberta Government Department of Education, taught university courses at the Camrose Lutheran College and then served as an Educational Consultant in Singapore. (A career of 48 years in the education field.)
Archie leaves behind his wife Evelyn of 64 years; children Lorna Gaunt (Beau & Tove, Melissa, Luke); Doreen Babin husband Mark (Tasha & Adam, Jayd, Syriess & Austin, Mitch, Eric & Pam, Scott & Kayla); Dale Marzolf wife Elaine (Louise & Darby, (great grandson Branson Ritchie), Brock, Thomas); Debbie Lenton husband Peter; his sister Gorda Seymore; his sisters in law Dorothy and Irene Marzolf and numerous nieces andnephews.
A quick wit and quiet, good natured humour brightened all of our lives and many pleasant and happy memories will always be cherished and revisited. He put others before himself and was always the pillar of any community he was associated with.
There will be grave side internment at the Brooks Cemetery, on Monday Oct 16th at 11:00. John Theiss officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to CLBI or the Unviersity of Alberta Augustana Campus. Thank you to Dr. Dhunnoo and all the staff at Riverbend Revera.
